What is Newby-ginnings of north Idaho, inc.?

Newby-ginnings is a nonprofit organization that provides essential household and personal items as well as resources and referrals to area Veterans, Active Military and Gold Star Families, at no charge.

Who does Newby-ginnings serve?

Newby-ginnings provides services to Veterans, Active Service Members and their household family members as well as Gold Star Families.

How do I enroll in Newby-ginnings?

Visit our shop Monday – Thursday 9:00am – 5:00pm to enroll. No appointment is necessary. Just bring a government issued proof of military service such as a DD214, VA Card or Military ID for yourself or a household family member, complete a short enrollment form and you are set.

I am not a veteran, active service member or gold star family member, can I still shop at Newby-ginnings?

Unfortunately no. Newby-ginnings provides services to Veterans, Active Service Members and Gold Star Families only. We are not open to the general public as a thrift store.

I have household items I would like to donate to Newby-ginnings. How do I do that?

Bring donations to our shop at 570 S Clearwater Loop, Unit A, Post Falls, ID 83854 on Monday – Thursday 9:00am – 5:00pm and we will have muscles available to help you unload.

What donations does Newby-ginnings need and accept?

Newby-ginnings accepts all clean, functional gently used personal and household items . . . anything a family could use in their home such as furniture, appliances, housewares, bedding, towels, clothes, shoes, cold weather gear, tools, yard equipment, etc.

What does Newby-ginnings not accept?

We cannot accept, the old-style tube TV’s, tires, beds or mattresses, gas stoves or dryers, full size pianos or organs, or other oversized items such as large entertainment centers and office desks.

How does Newby-ginnings stay open if you do not charge for anything?

Newby-ginnings is 100% funded by donations, fundraisers and local grants. We happily accept and greatly appreciate monetary donations as well as invitations to participate in fundraisers and events in our community.
