Clean: Please make sure all clothing and household items are clean and ready to re-homed. Our volunteers put our donated items directly into the shop for our Veterans. Unfortunately, we do have the resources to clean or repair items that are donated.
Complete and Functional: Please include pieces and parts to equipment, furniture, children’s games, toys, etc. This helps to ensure that all donations are functional and ready for immediate distribution in the shop.
Please ensure that all items are bagged/boxed and ready for pick up
IMPORTANT:
If our driver needs to enter your home to retrieve heavy/large items, Newby-ginnings is not responsible for any damage to your home or business.
Please bring donations to the Newby-ginnings shop during normal business hours. We will have volunteers ready to help you unload. Unfortunately, as we have no donation bin, we cannot accept donations left outside our facility outside of business hours.
We have a box truck and are happy to pick up large donations! Thank you for choosing to donate to Newby-ginnings!
Due to our amazing community and high demand for our truck, please call to schedule a pick up at least 2-4 weeks in advance. Scheduling availability may vary (for the better or worse) depending on time of year. Thank you in advance for your patience during our busy months.
IMPORTANT
Because of the high cost of trash removal and dump fees, please be aware that our volunteers may respectfully decline donations that are not suitable for direct placement with our clients.
Please Call 208-610-6996 for more information or to schedule a pick up.

My husband, kids and I recently started going here. We were so humbled and impressed by the services they provide to Military and their families. Customer service is excellent. They are always so kind and helpful. Thank you for all that you guys do. This store is a wonderful blessing

Today I took a trek to one of my favorite places. It is an amazing store. It is run by an exceptionally devoted mother. Her son was her hero, his name was Nicholas Newby. He lost his life serving his country in Afghanistan. Since that horrific day his awesome mother has devoted her life, energy and resources on helping other heroes. American Veterans. She operates a wonderful store. This store has absolutely everything. Clothing for the whole family, dishes, pots and pans, large and small appliances, bedding, furniture, some medical equipment and even groceries. Everything in this store is given to veterans at no charge. This store is operated solely with volunteers and donations. I am asking my friends and anyone who reads this to consider donating unwanted and/or unused household items, furniture, or clothing to this more than worthy cause.

If you're a vet, or family member of a vet, this is an awesome resource. It is basically a thrift store, that is 100% free of charge and completely donation driven. I am a vet, and 2 years ago my son was in a motorcycle crash, and when it was time for his recovery, I needed a potty chair, a shower seat, a wheelchair, and a walker. I got all of those items at Newby-Ginnings free of charge. When he was done with his recovery, I donated them all back to Newby-Ginnings, so that another vet, or their family could get use of them.

By the grace of God, I was blessed to be introduced to Cour d'Alene, ID and Newby-Ginnings. I came here for a veterans mental health program(Patriot PowerUp), and upon completion of the program, decided that I had found my new home. The staff at Newby-Ginnings helped me get everything I needed for my new rental house. I had been nomadic for several years, and so all I had when I came was a couple bags of essentials. They gave me all the furniture I needed to furnish my living room and office/workspace, as well as kitchen utensils, some very nice pots and pans. Even a nice old cast iron skillet!! It makes me a bit emotional to see the love in the eyes of the founder(I believe her name is Theresa? I have trouble with names. The mother of Nick Newby, who was killed in Iraq in 2011, and whom the program is named after. This was the year after I returned from my own combat tour in Afghanistan. This was a rough period). She looked at me with the most motherly concern for my wellbeing, and that's something I've never gotten from my own family. People are so nice here in northern Idaho. I love all y'all. Blessings, with love Zack

Newby-ginnings has been a total blessing to our big family (and if you're a vet/military family, I strongly encourage you to check it out and spread the word)! It's uncanny how I'll often add an item to my shopping list and there it is the next time I go in! We needed baby formula for our then 6 month old... and within a week or two and for months to come, they had a steady supply of full size tins of baby formula! We only needed to buy 1 can at Walmart before we got a windfall of all that we needed at NB, taking her up to her 1st birthday (when she could start in with regular milk)! What a blessing and a huge cost savings for our big family! We moved here with minimal furniture... and most of our house is now outfitted with lovely pre-loved but excellent condition furniture we received at NB! We've also gotten all sorts of fun extras (kid games, crafts, holiday stuff) and practical things (adult/kid shoes, bed sheets, pans), plus essentials like produce and other foods! Every time we go, it's an adventure and a welcome social opportunity as everyone is so caring to my family! Fist bumps and high 5s abound with the volunteers and my kids! :) I joke that NB is like "Cheers": it's a place "where everyone knows your name." It's a taste of good old-fashioned camaraderie and hospitality! :) Theresa has made it a haven for so many folks to come together with a shared mission of service and support for local military/vet families and fellow patriots to commune! I hope her Newby-ginnings continues to grow and thrive for many years to come!
